A while back we were told that Johnny depp will not be returning for more Fantastic Beastsmovies. The actor was recently replaced by Mads Mikkelsen. Despite the fact that Mikkelsen is a great actor, the necessary fans also think it is a shame or even unjustified that Depp does not return. Dan Fogler is now also commenting on it.
Fogler plays an important role in the Fantastic Beasts franchise, that of Jacob Kowalski, but still dares to stand up for Depp: ”It’s a complex situation. I am definitely not an expert in this field, but I would like to say something about it anyway. The fans deserve that and the silence doesn’t help either. What suits the movie best isn’t what suits Johnny best. The right decision is therefore not necessarily the fair one”.
Difficult
Fogler thinks Warner Bros. Depp has let go of his defeat in the lawsuit against The Sun. In this he was accused of partner violence and the studio assumed that Depp was physically and mentally too hard to do a good job.
Fogler continues: ”I’m already having a hard time concentrating on my work, so I can only imagine how difficult Johnny is having these days”.
Disappointed in Warner Bros.
Fogler thinks Warner Bros could have handled the situation better: ”If it depended on me, we would have done everything we could to postpone his shooting days, in the hope that the filming would not stop completely and that he would eventually put in a solid acting”.
”Ultimately, it was not allowed to be. It all happened unexpectedly. We were not warned about Johnny’s firing. Warner Bros. could have informed us and told us how to approach the subject in the press”.

”However, the situation was already precarious due to the corona crisis and I understand that some did not want to take that gamble, whether Johnny is innocent or nothe adds. ”Too much is at stake. The movie must be a hit. Any decision would have resulted in a loss”.
Fogler is and remains a fan of Depp and hopes to work with him again in the future: ”I see Depp as a magnificent comet that leaves a trail of destruction and I mean that as a compliment. I would say the same about Jack Nicholson and a few other ‘bad boys’ in the movie industry. That’s why we love them too. It’s Rock & Roll with Johnny”
