Rotary clubs in the area are offering traditional career guidance online for the first time
The premiere, born of the Corona emergency, was successful – so much so that the emergency solution could well become a future model for traditional career counseling by Rotarians and the Chamber of Commerce. Instead of four or five people sitting at the table in front of an expert, around 500 prospective high school graduates from the city and district have for the first time the opportunity to obtain information from around 70 experts via a video link.
Offenbach – Rotary press man Claus Weyers, himself a representative of the marketing industry, is still very enthusiastic about the technical implementation of simple access via links on a website and the problem-free handling of young people. “I answered questions consistently for practically two hours,” he sums up.
His colleagues – from companies, medicine, handicrafts, fashion, the police, the armed forces and many other areas – also gave positive feedback on the interest of the students, who in online groups of up to fifteen did not allow the initially feared distance to arise.
“My impression was almost as if they weren’t doing anything else all day,” says Claus Weyers about the uncomplicated use of the microphone and camera. “A fantastic atmosphere!” He enthuses.
The communications specialist has classified student concerns into three categories: those that deal specifically with the profession, training and the way to get there; Asking for general advice on career and career choice after school; and getting special tips for creating presentations for school.
According to Weyer, the new format has the potential for repetition even without corona printing. But the Rotary Clubs Offenbach am Main, Offenbach Einhard and Dreieich / Neu-Isenburg have not yet decided anything.
