Fantasian could be Nobuo Uematsu’s last soundtrack

In an interview with the website Mobile Syrup, the series creator Final Fantasy, Hironobu Sakaguchi, said his newest project, the mobile game Fantasian, must have the last complete soundtrack composed by the legendary Nobuo Uematsu.

“I think he kind of hinted that Fantasian might be the last game he plays from beginning to end in terms of creating an entire soundtrack”, stated Sakaguchi, who has worked with Uematsu for decades on games in the Final Fantasy series, Lost Odyssey e The Last Story.

Nobuo Uematsu is seen as one of the greatest composers who has ever worked in the games industry, but has suffered from health problems for some years now, even having to take a break from your career to take care of yourself – Which even put your work on Fantasian in question.

“Before I asked him to work at Fantasian, he was suffering from some health problems, and there was a concern that he would be able to compose everything, or if it would even be possible to do something like that.”

In the end, Uematsu achieved the feat, and according to the article on the website, Fantasian’s soundtrack will have 60 songs created by the composer.

“He put his heart and soul into it,” said Sakaguchi. For me, when I heard it, it almost made me cry a little bit, because it was such a great time for both of our careers. “

Even though he is no longer able to work on full tracks, Uematsu should still not continue with collaborations and compositions specific to games, as he did in Final Fantasy VII Remake, working on the theme “Hollow”.

Fantasian will be launched for service Apple Arcade in 2021.
