Just like you or your friends, the video games that you enjoyed and loved in the past are also not free from aging. That games that once looked stunning in their era, along with developments in hardware and software technology, are slowly starting to not look as beautiful as before. Situations like these also make reselling games in Remaster or Remake format an effective strategy in the gaming industry. Interestingly? When the developer or publisher is not interested in doing that, there are always fans who act.
One of the well-known Skyrim modders – Jonx0r gives an idea of what Dark Souls III will be like if From Software or Bandai Namco decide to do a remake process in the future. Jonx0r built three locations at the start of the game: Cemetary of Ash, Gundyr’s Arena, and Firelink Shrine again using Unreal Engine 5. Unfortunately, the modder also admitted that he was working on this project purely for fun, considering he was trying to master Unreal Engine 5. There is no intention to continue it.
As we know, neither From Software nor Bandai Namco themselves have ever expressed interest in rebuilding Dark Souls with a new engine via the remake process, even though they have had the chance to do the remaster themselves. Dark Souls III with Unreal Engine 5? Sounds like a project you’d like to support?
