Fans reject the project in the Bundesliga barometer

According to Florentino Perez, President of Real Madrid, the Super League is “the only chance to save football”. Many critics see the exact opposite in such a league, namely the end of football.

In a representative online survey for the Bundesliga barometer, a clear majority of 94.7 percent of the total of 5,178 respondents spoke out against the establishment of a Super League.

96.9 percent of the fans also welcomed the decision by the German clubs FC Bayern and Borussia Dortmund to speak out against participating in the Super League.

Fans firmly reject the Super League

Both FCB and BVB had distanced themselves from the Eliteliga with clear statements. According to a report, both teams were offered to participate.

The aforementioned statement by the Real President was rejected by an overwhelming majority of 99.1 percent of those surveyed. Likewise, only 1.2 percent of the participants found that football in general benefits from a Super League.

Meanwhile, there were various proposals for possible sanctions against potential Super League participants.

86.3 percent of the fans supported the exclusion of the twelve founding clubs from the national competitions, 82.7 were in favor of exclusion from the current Champions League and Europa League and 71.4 saw it as a good opportunity to attract the players of the corresponding clubs from world and to exclude Euro championships.

The majority (77.4 percent), on the other hand, oppose the annulment of previous international titles won by the founding associations.

Approval for Rummenigge

A large number of coaches, players and club bosses had expressed their criticism of the Super League’s plans. A clear majority of fans (98.4 percent each) agreed with the statements by Southampton coach Ralph Hasenhüttl and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.

“It’s completely unacceptable what’s going on behind the scenes. Nobody wants this Super League. Not even the fans of the clubs who are involved,” Hasenhüttl had made clear. Bayern’s CEO Rummenigge sent a message to all football: “Everyone in the football business has spent too much money. It is time that football became less arrogant.”

Other statements, especially those from Real President Perez, encountered a lot of headwind. “Many important clubs in Spain, Italy and Great Britain want to find a solution to a very bad financial situation. The only way is to play more competitive games” – only 5.1 percent of fans agreed with this statement.

Meanwhile, the supporters can be reassured – the much-discussed Super League will probably not exist. But the reformed Champions League is now a thorn in the side of many fans.
