Fans reject Ceferin’s EM plans

The upcoming EM is causing mixed feelings among football fans in Germany.

UEFA plans to continue the tournament as planned in twelve countries despite the corona pandemic. In addition, President Aleksander Ceferin is demanding that the participating cities (including Munich) allow fans to attend the games.

Ceferin’s demand that the games not take place without spectators also met with rejection from the fans: no less than 83.5 percent of those surveyed disagree. After all, 57.3 percent of supporters are in favor of postponing the European Championship again if UEFA sticks to its spectator plans.

As for the general admission of spectators to the EM, opinion is divided. 46.3 percent reject this, 37.4 percent support viewers with appropriate hygiene concepts. 8.5 percent are in favor of vaccinated people being admitted without further restrictions, 7.9 percent are in favor of a general admission of fans without restrictions.

Meanwhile, the fans generally don’t think much of the pan-European EM mode, i.e. a European championship in many countries: a whopping 94.7 percent are in favor of a tournament in one or two countries.

If the EM 2021 is only held in one country, 74.4 percent of the fans are in favor of Germany.
