Many admirers have gathered in front of Alain Delon’s estate in Duchy, where his funeral ceremony will be held, “24 Chasa” reports.
All day people come there with bouquets and wreaths to honor their idol. The few invited to the ceremony, which will take place in a closed chapel, also arrive.
Paul Belmondo arrived on a motorcycle – the son of another legend of French cinema, Jean-Paul Belmondo, who was Alain Delon’s main rival for the hearts of the audience.
Delon’s sons Antony and Alain-Fabien came out to the gate of the estate to thank the admirers of their father, who had come to honor him from all over France and abroad.
Jean-Michel Di Falco, a former bishop in the southeastern town of Gap, said the actor had asked him to officiate the funeral service. He did not specify a place or time for the ceremony, but French news channels CNews and BFMTV reported that it would take place at 5:00 p.m. local time in Duchy-Montcorbon, a village in central France where Delon spent his last years.
The actor has said he does not want a national memorial event, but a modest burial near his dogs at his Duchy property.
About fifty people are invited, close friends of the Delon clan told AFP his three children Anthony, Anushka and Alain-Fabien.
According to sources close to AFP, guests are expected to include Rosalie van Breemen – the actor’s ex-wife and mother of Anoushka and Alain-Fabien, as well as actresses Nicole Calfan, Muriel Robin and Géraldine Danon, who is also the actor’s godmother. According to the Parisienne newspaper, Paul Belmondo has also been invited.
Cell phones must be confiscated from all funeral attendees for privacy reasons. At the request of the family, the prefecture has also banned flights over the property for the entire weekend.
The funeral will take place entirely behind closed doors, away from cameras, in a chapel located in the heart of the Duchy-Montcorbon estate, bought by Alain Delon in 1971.
