Fans gathered on Sunday at the apartment complex in New York where the Friendscharacters supposedly lived. They laid flowers and lit candles in memory of the late actor Matthew Perry.
The location is a six-story residential building above a restaurant in Manhattan’s West Village neighborhood. The complex can already be seen in the first episode of the sitcom. The recording of the series did not take place here.
At the apartment complex in New York where the characters from Friends supposedly lived, the number of flowers, candles and messages grew steadily on Sunday. “Thank you for being our friend,” one of the cardboard signs reads. People comfort each other and cry over the actor’s death.
Since Sunday, fans of Perry have also been coming to the home of the actor who died on Saturday in Los Angeles. They place flowers, cards and other mementos in front of the gate in memory of the Friends-ster.
Makers of Friends also commemorate the actor
Perry, 54, played the role of Chandler Bing for ten seasons Friends. It is one of the most popular sitcoms in TV history.
The actor was found dead at his home in Los Angeles on Saturday evening. He is said to have drowned in a jacuzzi.
The creators of the series Friends, producers Marta Kauffman, David Crane and Kevin Bright, learned of Perry’s death with great sadness. The writers and producers of the still popular sitcom tell American media that the actor, who played Chandler Bing in the series, had a great talent.
“We are shocked and deeply, deeply saddened by the passing of our friend Matthew. It still seems surreal,” the trio said. “All we can say is that we feel blessed that he was a part of our lives.”
