His funeral will be held privately, far away from the public. But Arno’s fans can still pay their last tribute to their deceased hero, in the Ancienne Belgique – his ‘second living room’.

“He wanted to be strewn at sea, he said. That’s what we’re going to do.” Peter Hintjens, Arno’s brother, did not give more information about the farewell. It is heard in his entourage that his loved ones want to keep the funeral ceremony in a limited circle. Now family and relatives still give fans the opportunity to say goodbye to the singer, who died last week.

That happens in the Ancienne Belgique, where Arno has performed more often than any other artist. You will be able to greet Arno one last time in the entrance hall on Wednesday 4 May, between 10 a.m. and 1.30 p.m. “His urn will have a special place and you will also be able to leave a personal message in our mourning register.”

Arno died last Saturday from the effects of pancreatic cancer. A funeral register was also opened for their honorary citizen in Ostend, just like in Brussels. A life-size banner of Arno was hung in the AB, and fans laid flowers at his home in Dansaertstraat.(dvg)
