Fancy the cinema! “Godzilla vs. Kong” makes record – Kino News

People still want to go to the cinema. This is shown by the box office results of “Godzilla vs. Kong” now also in North America, where there was even the Corona record …

Warner Bros.

$ 32.2 million over the 3-day Friday-Saturday weekend, $ 48.5 million total since launch on Wednesday March 31st. These are the box office numbers from North America for “Godzilla vs. Kong” that should give hope to an entire industry.

Because on the one hand it is a record. No film has grossed so much money at the North American box office since the Corona restrictions.

Above all, however, it is a signal that many people continue to really want to go to the cinema. In the end many people wanted to see the monster spectacle on the big screen, although there was also a streaming alternative. In the USA, the film was released on subscription to streaming service HBO Max, and in Canada it could be purchased individually in digital format.

More monster spectacles in prospect

Thanks mainly to the outstanding box office results in China, “Godzilla vs. Kong” is already at a stately global box office of $ 285.4 million – even though the film is not yet available in all of Europe and many other parts of the world. That should be well above expectations.

So the chances are very good that the so-called MonsterVerse will continue. As is well known, “Godzilla Vs. Kong” forms a franchise with the predecessors “Godzilla”, “Kong: Skull Island” and “Godzilla: King Of The Monsters”.

We don’t yet know when “Godzilla Vs. Kong” will be released in Germany. A German start date for “Godzilla Vs. Kong” will depend on when the nationwide cinemas in Germany can and are allowed to open again. Should this be delayed further and further, it is of course also conceivable that, as with “Wonder Woman 1984”, a release about Sky Ticket he follows.

The often asked FILMSTARTS review of “Godzilla Vs. Kong” will only appear once it is known when and how the film will be available in Germany.
