Fancy a year full of culture?: City of Ahlen

Deciding on a course of study or a professional field is not easy, too often decisive insights into everyday working life are still missing.

A voluntary social year (FSJ for short), which is closely supported by the LAG Arbeit Bildung Kultur NRW, is one way of learning basic courses of action and competences in the professional world, which is very useful in later career or study selection.

The city of Ahlen is now offering such a voluntary service in the cultural education coordination center for the ninth time from September 1, 2022.

The coordination center focuses on cultural education work with children and young people, including helping to shape the various programs at the Ahlen kindergartens and schools. These include the “Ahlener Kulturknirpse”, the “Kulturstrolche” and the “Kulturrucksack NRW”. In addition, valuable insights into the work of a public administration will continue to be imparted. Participation is also required in press and public relations work or in the supervision of events.

The FSJ Kultur also includes several seminars and so-called education days, which focus on personality development and career orientation through cultural educational means. These are organized by the state working group LAG Arbeit Bildung Kultur NRW. The volunteer thus comes into contact with a large Germany-wide network of volunteers from other cultural institutions.
