“Today the FANC cannot guarantee that a late and unprepared scenario (…) a few days after the final shutdown of Doel 3 (…) does not represent a risk for nuclear safety”. This is one of the most notable passages of the FANC’s leaked response to Minister Verlinden. He asked the FANC if the demolition of Doel 3 could be postponed.
According to Verlinden, the FANC responded positively, as it made it sound in “Terzake”. But now it appears that the nuclear supervisory body actually said no to the minister’s question. Security is definitely in jeopardy. The FANC literally calls the Verlinden initiative “no sign of good governance”.
