Famous cyclist Frome will become a member of Neiland team – Other sports – Apollo.lv – Sports

Britain’s most successful cyclist of all time, Früm, won the Tour de France multi-day bike ride in the colors of Team Sky, which became Ineos last year, four times in five years.

Ineos manager Dave Breilsford hailed 35-year-old Frome as a “great champion,” but said it was time to divorce.

He said Frome wanted to be the only leader of the team, but Ineos, along with other Tour de France winners Geraint Thomas and Egan Bernal, were unable to give that guarantee.

“Frumo’s current contract expires in December, and we have decided not to renew it,” Breilsford said.

“We are announcing this earlier than usual to put an end to recent speculation and allow the team to focus on next season,” he added.

“It has been a phenomenal decade with the team. We have achieved so much together, and I will always find these memories dear,” said Frumen, who was born in Kenya.

“I look forward to exciting new challenges as we move on to the next phase of my career, but in the meantime I have focused on winning the fifth Tour de France with Ineos.”

Later on Thursday, the Israel Start-Up Nation team wrote on Twitter: “Welcome to our family, Chris Frome!”

After winning the Vuelta a Espana in 2017 and the Giro d’Italia in 2018, Frumo was the winner of all three major multi-day bike rides at the same time, but his star has since faded.

He was seriously injured when he crashed during the Criterium de Dauphine in June 2019 and was in rehabilitation for several months, missing the Tour de France.

Frumas teammate Thomas became the winner of the 2018 French tour, while Colombian rider Bernals won the 2019 title.

The British returned to the saddles only in February of this year on a tour of the UAE, which was shortened by a coronavirus pandemic.

Earlier this year, Frumo said his hunger for the fifth or even sixth victory of the Tour de France had remained unchanged.

“My dream is to retire when I have won more in the overall rating of the Tour de France than any other rider,” he told the French daily L’Equipe.

He needs another victory to match Eddie Merks, Jacques Anketil, Bernard Ino and Miguel Indurain, who have all won five times in France.

This year’s tour, which has been postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic, is scheduled for August 29 to September 20.

Breilsford has contributed seven Tour de France victories with Team Sky and Ineos, with Bradley Vigins winning first in 2012.

Team Sky, backed by Rupert Murdoch’s media empire, was known for applying Brailsford’s meticulous and innovative “insignificant benefits” – the theory that many small benefits in areas such as wind resistance, diet and sleep quality can lead to significant performance improvements.

However, their image was captivated by discussions about so-called therapeutic exceptions after a British parliamentary report said the team had violated an “ethical line” by using loopholes in doping to improve performance.

Team Sky found itself in a long-running doping debate that began when Frumo was found in a doping test for elevated levels of the asthma drug salbutamol on his way to victory at Vuelta a Espana in 2017. He was acquitted ten months later.

Frumo said he was thrown with a cup of urine during the 2015 Tour de France after allegations of doping. He has always claimed to be a “clean” rider.

Team Sky became Ineos last year to showcase the new sponsor, a chemical giant owned by British billionaire Jim Retcliff.

In cycling, the team has had a lot of relaxing tactics, which, according to many, delay the race.

The team’s large budget allows it to hire riders who will play the first violins elsewhere and be effective in major races, especially the Tour de France.
