Manama > Expatriates in Oman have significantly reduced the minimum wage for family visas. According to the new policy, those earning a monthly salary of 150 riyals can bring their families to Oman. The new decision of the Royal Oman Policy (ROP) gives a lot of hope to expatriates, including the Malayalis. Previously, the income limit for bringing a family to Oman on a family visa (dependent visa) was 300 Omani Riyals per month. Before that, the salary limit was 600 riyals and above. In 2011, the income limit law for family visa came into force in Oman. 42.21 percent of the country’s population of 49.75 lakh are non-residents. The new decision is to promote family reunification of expatriates and attract skilled foreign workers. By attracting skilled workers, the authorities hope to give a significant boost to Oman’s economy. It is also believed to promote the growth and stability of the country’s wealth system.
