Family Vaccination Centre Sees Success on Big Vaccination Day

Local Health Officials Expand Access to Dengue Vaccine on Weekends

[CITY, STATE] – In a bid to make the dengue vaccine more accessible, local health officials have announced weekend vaccination clinics.

The move comes as a new age group becomes eligible for the vaccine, prompting a surge in demand.

"We recognized that many people in this age range work traditional schedules and might find it difficult to get vaccinated during the week," explained Sandra Ibanez, a legal representative for the program. "Today’s clinic, offered on a Saturday, allows us to reach these individuals and ensure they have access to this important protection."

According to Ibanez, over 150 people had already taken advantage of the Saturday clinic.

"The vaccine is completely free," Ibanez emphasized, "and we’ve received a very positive response from the public. People are appreciative of the expanded age range and these weekend opportunities."

The health department is reminding residents that healthcare workers, educators, security personnel, and individuals up to age 39 are all eligible to receive the vaccine.

Officials urge anyone who has reached the three-month mark since their first dose to schedule their second shot as soon as possible.

"Even if you are past the ideal timeframe for your second dose," Ibanez assured, "please come in and get vaccinated. It’s never too late to benefit from this protection."

Residents shared their experiences and motivations for getting vaccinated.

"I’m terrified of getting dengue," shared Flora, an employee of the Directorate of Adolescence and Family, who was receiving her second dose. "I feel much calmer knowing I have this protection.

Manue Sánchez, a 37-year-old who had previously battled dengue twice, with the second instance landing him in the hospital, expressed his gratitude for the readily available vaccine. "Having access to the vaccine today is fantastic," Sánchez said, "I truly appreciate the effort the province has made and encourage everyone to take advantage of this opportunity."

Twenty-six-year-old Augustine echoed this sentiment, saying, "My girlfriend’s mother had a serious case of dengue, so we decided to get vaccinated. We were told it’s the best way to prevent the disease, and I’m glad to feel more protected."

The expansion of access to the dengue vaccine through weekend clinics reflects the continuing commitment of local health officials to combat this potentially serious mosquito-borne illness.
