The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) arrested the Governor of Papua Luke Enembe and brought from Papua to Jakarta. However, the family protested because Lukas Enembe did not board the Garuda Indonesia flight.
It is known, on Tuesday (10/1), between 10.00-11.00 WIT, Lukas Enembe was arrested by the KPK at a restaurant in Papua. Lukas is a suspect in bribery and gratuities being investigated by the KPK.
From the restaurant, Lukas was taken to the Mobile Brigade Headquarters, then taken to the airport to fly to Jakarta. Lukas flies to Jakarta on a plane owned by Trigana Air.
Lukas’ younger brother, Elius, protested because he could not visit his older brother, who was being treated at the Gatot Subroto Army Hospital, after arriving in Jakarta. He was also disappointed that Lukas Enembe was not taken on a Garuda plane when he was arrested by the KPK.
“We, as a family, have surrendered 20 years of service to the country, but we give our heart, ask for a heart, how is this country? You can’t ask the KPK to not kidnap you. This doesn’t require that sick people go to Jakarta. It’s not a Garuda plane anymore. This is already a crime,” Elius told reporters at the Gatot Soebroto Army Hospital on Wednesday (11/1/2023).
He hopes to be reunited with Luke soon. Elius is worried about Lukas Enembe’s condition.
“We, the family, hope that access will be opened. I am a private doctor, the family can also come to see you, bring food, bring clothes, that’s a necessity. If we don’t see this 24 hours, who is on guard inside. Anything happens,” he explained.
Family Can’t Visit
Lukas’ attorney, Petrus Bala, said that Lukas Enembe’s family had arrived in Jakarta late Wednesday. But the family was not allowed to visit.
“(His son) has arrived here, but we are doctors, his younger sibling can’t come in yet can’t come here. That means, we want to immediately convey it to the KPK, the team of lawyers wants to meet, the personal doctor wants to meet, we have been coordinating,” said Petrus.
Petrus said that the family was worried about Lukas Enembe’s health. Because of that, he asked that a family representative could accompany him.
“I told the officers. For health problems, every second can change. What happens in the next few hours? This is humanity,” he said.
Apart from that, continued Petrus, Lukas Enembe’s younger brother named Elius had asked the KPK to be given some assistance rights. He hopes the KPK family can visit to bring clothes to food.
“He eats sweet potatoes and taro. Rice is not suitable,” he said.
