Family of woman decapitated by fence demands 230 million euros in damages

The gate, which had not been secured, blew across the road and beheaded Esther Nakajjigo, 25, as she sat next to her husband Ludovic Michaud in the car. The two had just gotten married and were celebrating the anniversary of their first date in the park.

Before his eyes

“I can’t even imagine what Ludovic saw and experienced that day,” their lawyer told local media. “The end of the gate speared the car like a lance and literally beheaded his newlywed bride before his very eyes.”

In an interview on CBS4 TV station in Denver earlier this week, Michaud said he is experiencing flashbacks from the accident and is trying to figure out how to move on and whether his life will ever be worth living again. He is demanding about 203 million euros in damages, the Nakajjigo family more than 25 million.

Standard padlock

“In the absence of a standard eight-dollar padlock, our world lost forever an extraordinary warrior – a young female influencer destined to become society’s future Princess Diana, philanthropist Melinda Gates or Oprah Winfrey,” their lawyer said.

Nakajjigo had a huge following in her native Uganda. She has been involved in numerous philanthropic projects, mainly with the aim of reducing the number of teenage pregnancies. She had come to the US to continue her education. There she had met the French Ludovic. They were married in March. When the Covid epidemic was over, they wanted to celebrate their wedding in grand style in their home country of Uganda.
