Jakarta –
Student family University of Indonesia (UI), MNZ (19) who was stabbed to death by a senior, did not accept the apology of the perpetrator who was his senior, namely AAB (23). The family still wants the legal process to run to completion.
“Yes, emotionally maybe not. I hope we will oversee this to the end, until the end of the verdict,” said Fais Rafsanjani as MNZ’s uncle, in a press conference at the Depok Police, Saturday (5/8/2023).
Fais considered the perpetrator’s apology as a natural thing. He emphasized that the case that happened to his nephew must be resolved through the laws in force in this country.
“If people apologize, it’s natural, it’s normal to apologize. But our country is a country of laws. If we apologize, we just finish it before the law. We have laws that apply in our country,” said Fais.
Meanwhile, the article requested by the family is to charge the victim with Article 340. This is because the family assesses that there was a plan by the perpetrator to kill MNZ.
Fais believes that what happened to his nephew is also unacceptable if it happened in the perpetrator’s camp. That’s why Fais wants everyone to follow the legal process.
“If we hope, because there is an article that requires planning, we from the family side ask for 340 articles related to the death penalty. We as parents ourselves, moreover I am sure that the perpetrator’s parents would not want their child to have that way too,” said Fais.
“In our sense too, at least we follow the legal process that applies in our country. Escorted by friends from the police, the prosecutor’s office, later until it is finished, until the verdict too,” he concluded.
Previously, the police named UI student AAB (23) as a suspect in the alleged premeditated murder of his younger sibling, MNZ (19). AAB faces the death penalty.
“(Article) 340 and/or 338 and/or 365,” said Deputy Criminal Investigation Unit of the Depok Police AKP Nirwan Pohan in a press conference at the Depok Police Headquarters, West Java, Saturday (5/8/2023).
Nirwan said AAB had prepared a knife to stab MNZ. AAB also faces the death penalty.
“Threats of death or life imprisonment, a minimum of 20 years (prison),” he said.
