Family of Ana María Serrano Céspedes Seeks Justice and Fears for Safety in Feminicide Case

The lawyer for the Serrano Céspedes family, Fernando Raygadas, detailed in an interview with Manuel Feregrino in “Por la Mañana” that Ana María’s family is asking for justice for her and they are afraid because they do not know how the parents or relatives of the alleged aggressor are going to act. .

In addition, he pointed out that the property in which Ana María lived with her parents is insured for investigation purposes and they have to wait for the investigations to conclude before they can return it to them.

“A violent event like that has had an impact on the family and they feel afraid. Imagine they were outside the country, they are told that their daughter dies. She had been with this person for a year, a year and a half. They don’t know how the people are going to act. parents or relatives,” mentioned the lawyer.

Likewise, they hope that the attention that the Attorney General’s Office of the State of Mexico has given them will continue as before, since they have been treated in an “exceptional” manner.

“What we want is for the evidence to be received and to avoid any act of corruption that favors freedom,” he said in an interview.

The lawyer pointed out that they cannot give more details about the case because the investigations are still continuing, but they are waiting for the initial hearing to see if Alan Gil testifies and if the Prosecutor’s Office or the Public Ministry in charge of the case formulate the accusation.

Ana María Serrano is the niece of José Manuel Restrepo Abondano, former Minister of Finance in Colombia. Her mother Ximena Céspedes is originally from the same country and her father is Mexican.

The 18-year-old girl was a victim of femicide in her home, located in Atizapán de Zaragoza, in the State of Mexico. Ana María Serrano studied Medicine, because her dream was to be a cardiologist. Her parents were out of the country because they visited one of her sisters in Europe when she was murdered.
