The family and friends of young Breezy Alexnay, who was murdered during a party in the province of Santiago de Cubademonstrated in front of the second Unit of the National Revolutionary Police (PNR) to demand justice for what happened.
Images shared by independent journalist Yosmany Mayeta Labrada show dozens of people in front of the site, visibly upset, while PNR agents observe from the other side of the street.
According to the communicator, the demonstration is also due to the fact that the young man’s family is upset by the slow progress of the investigations, since it seems that the authorities do not care about the case of the murdered young man.
The video was filled with comments that sympathized with the victim’s family and friends, pointing out that the Island’s justice system needed to change. This was noted because the alleged murderer already had a history of similar crimes.
“What I still don’t understand is how a person who I killed before was on the loose? Well, look, I try to explain that to myself and I can’t,” one of the users wrote about it.
Others were dissatisfied with the current situation in the country, pointing out that those who demonstrated in front of the PNR unit now ran the risk of receiving reprisals, while the real criminals continued without receiving real punishment.
“Possibly, those who are asking for justice will remain in prison and the murderers will be released. Here everything is the other way around,” wrote one of the Internet users.
Case of the young man murdered in Santiago de Cuba
The young man was stabbed several times while he was at a party that took place in the early hours of Monday, February 19, at the ‘El Ciroa’ recreational center.
After the attack, the young man was rushed to the ‘Saturnino Lora’ Provincial Hospital, but he was not saved.
According to Mayeta Labrada, the victim’s family asked the authorities for help to arrest the person responsible for the crime, but he fled after the incident, so he could not be found.
A second publication indicates that the suspect in this crime was identified as Marcos René Vera, a resident of the Los Pinos neighborhood. The reporter indicated that this citizen’s neighbors consider that he has the possibility of leaving the Island, since his parents reside in the United States.
Likewise, he indicated that this was the second murder case in which he was identified as the alleged perpetrator.
“Although I do not have precise information, this is the second case of murder in which he has been implicated and has not yet been arrested,” the communicator wrote on his social networks.
