He took advantage of the absence of the homeowners to break into their apartment, consume what was in the pantry, watch TV, download movies and sleep on a mattress placed on the floor in the living room, next to a fan.
When on Monday, around 6 pm, a friend of the couple who lives in that house – a house on the mezzanine floor in via Goethe – showed up to feed the cat, she was confronted with a stranger. She almost fainted: she called the police and the landlord, while the intruder walked away. The nightmare for Giuseppe – the name is fictional – and for his family began with that phone call.
“I was on the beach in Liguria – he says -, in a quarter of an hour I left and on my arrival there was still the Forensic Scientist in my house doing the surveys”. With the apartment reduced to a garbage dump, Giuseppe spent the night with his parents, leaving a light on.
“When I returned the next morning – he says – I saw from the outside that another light was on.” At the door of the house, Giuseppe met the thief, took a photograph of him, they took bad words and the man ran away again. “The police returned after an hour and seeing the photo, the officers recognized him.”
