Holy water or circumcision – this unusual crucial question is posed in the comedy ‘Family is a celebration – baptism alarm’. As German-Persian parents, Amelie Kiefer and Reza Brojerdi find themselves in an unsolvable cultural clash dilemma. In an honorable but hopeless attempt to please their conservative grandparents, the two threaten to ruin their young family’s happiness. Director Sebastian Hilger staged the modern comedy with fast-paced turbulence, thoughtful moments and a well-rounded ensemble. As stubborn grandparents, Dominic Raacke and Victoria Trauttmansdorff as well as Ramin Yazdani and Sima Seyed engage in an entertaining exchange of blows.
