Earth is still the only known planet in the universe on which life can be found. It is also home to two young people who meet to create a living organism with the audience. By combining the exhibits in the museum’s collection, the means of artistic expression of the theater and dramaturgy, the audience is offered the opportunity to go on a research adventure and discover various amazing abilities that all living things possess.

Inclusion and accessibility as concepts, strategies and methods in Latvian cultural space are becoming more and more present and relevant. In order to map the situation in the cultural space of Latvia, Latvian university graduates who have focused on inclusion, accessibility, health and disability in their research and practical work will gather in the Medical History Museum with short lectures and presentations of practical solutions. A sign language interpreter will be provided at the event.

As part of the event, two video works will also be exhibited: Polish artist Artūras Žmijewska (Artur Žmijewski) video works Singing lesson. First part (2001), in which students of the Warsaw Institute for the Deaf perform Kyrie by Jan Maklakiewicz (Jan Maklakiewicz) written Polish masses (1944), and a video with a youth choir Voices performed in sign language by Jāņas Lūsēnas and Māras Melgalva Latvian lullaby (2023).

Entry to the event is free. The number of places in the event is limited, so advance registration is required www.mvm.lv.

In the lecture, Viesturs Eglītis will explain the complex way in which new medicines are developed: from pre-clinical studies with animals to the moment when drug therapy becomes available to patients. The lecturer will reveal how the persistent efforts of scientists to improve the quality of life collide with the ambitions of pharmaceutical companies to make money, and will increase understanding of how laboratory solutions transform into real products and integrate into the healthcare landscape.

Participation in the event with an entrance ticket to the museum: for schoolchildren – 0.70 euros, for students, pensioners – 1.50 euros, for adults – 2.50 euros.
