Traditionally, Michele White’s family from Lexington selected their own tree. Even when decorating, the baby owl was not discovered. “We have three dogs and we use this space all the time. To watch TV, to cook: nothing seen,” says White.
It was an employee of a carpet cleaning company who spotted the owl while the family was not at home. He discovered that something in the tree was moving when he plugged a cleaning device into an electrical outlet.
“He kept crawling further away,” the employee said. “It took a few minutes before I could actually see him.”
He sent photos of his find to Michele White, who was glad she didn’t have to hunt for the owl herself. The animal was then released into the backyard. It is unknown how the young owl is doing now.
