A dog is credited with saving a family of four in New York City when their house caught fire during the night.
Police officials said the fire broke out around 2am on Christmas Eve at the house on Barry Lane in Bardonia.
The family dog clawed at a bedroom door, waking everyone just in time to escape, according to a GoFundMe account set up to help the family.
Everyone sleeping inside the Rockland County home and the family’s two dogs escaped unharmed.
The firefighters who intervened managed to put out the fire, but not before the flames had already spread to the attic and roof.
Police said the house was deemed uninhabitable. There has been no official word on what caused the fire.
