The family doctor told how she works with patients in the capital.
The e-prescription has been valid in Ukraine for four days. Today is the second working day when family doctors issue electronic prescriptions to patients who turn to them for help.
The TSN.ua website talked to a family doctor who works in Podol in Kyiv.
As family doctor Tatyana Tokarchuk told us, now she is trying to write out only e-prescriptions to patients, although she adds that she can also write out a regular paper prescription at the same time.
“Those drugs that we used to prescribe in a paper prescription are now trying to prescribe exclusively in an electronic prescription. Of course, there are some difficulties, because the patient does not always have the phone number that he indicated when he signed the declaration with the doctor – the number has changed or the person has lost the phone “Such cases are rare, but they still happen. If a person has not received a message about a prescribed drug or prescription, then we make a paper prescription to solve the problematic issue,” Tatyana Tokarchuk tells TSN.ua.
What drugs are not available in pharmacies?
She adds that there is a waiting list. Because nIt takes time to create an episode, to describe the reason – why a particular drug is prescribed to a person.
“There is a queue. But we try to be attentive to everyone, we ask patients to sign up. They understand this very well. There are isolated cases when a drug is not available in pharmacies, because people bought medicines in bulk before April 1. Such cases happen, but there are not many of them. For example, we fixed lack of drugs to lower blood pressure. It’s likely that they sold out. But in pharmacies they assure that this problem will be quickly solved. I think that over time everything will get better – it takes time, experience and a little patience,” the family doctor tells us.
She adds that family doctors are now prioritizing e-prescription because it has a tangible impact on patient care.
“The fact is that people very often self-medicate. They use drugs that are very harmful to their health. And then the consequences are much worse. Therefore, it is better to get medicines by e-prescription and not harm your health,” adds Tatyana Tokarchuk.
What does the Ministry of Health say?
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health notes thatand weekends – Saturday and Sunday – more than 4 thousand e-prescriptions have already been issued in Ukraine.
The ministry assures that people are not encouraged to receive e-prescriptions. If a person wants in principle to get a paper prescription from their family doctor, they can do so.
The Ministry of Health adds that only in the occupied, de-occupied and front-line territories of Ukraine can there be a vacation without a prescription. And in all other territories – by electronic or paper prescription.
“The rules have remained unchanged. We have provided people with only an additional tool – an e-prescription. All the medicines that you used to buy with a paper prescription, you can now buy with an e-prescription. You will simply receive a message on your mobile phone. The plus is that you now you don’t need to go to the doctor for a piece of paper, you just have to write to him, and in return get an e-prescription, according to which the pharmacy will sell you the necessary medicines,” the press service of the Ministry of Health explains to TSN.ua.
Recall that from April 1, 2023, the sale of all prescription drugs in Ukraine may administered by prescription only.
