A Cuban family went to social networks to denounce the murder of a 92-year-old woman at the hands of her son-in-law, a renowned cardiologist, which occurred in the municipality of Diez de Octubre, in Havana.
According to Nayra Aranda, granddaughter of the deceased, the aggressor was identified as Rolando Sánchez Piñera, who had violently beaten the elderly woman to the point of taking her life in recent days.
According to a video shared by Aranda, the health professional had a disposition towards the outside, but it was very different at home, where he became a violent person.
At the time of the incident, the man was at home with the elderly woman and a woman who helped take care of her, while his wife was in the United States visiting her daughter, who has resided in that country for a long time.
The complaint states that the woman who helped care for the elderly woman discovered the cardiologist on top of the elderly woman, giving her a brutal beating. Due to her screams, a neighbor tried to help, but Sánchez pulled out a knife and threatened him to leave.
Aranda maintains that even the police had problems controlling him, since he was very strong and knew martial arts, but that he was eventually arrested. Despite this intervention, the old woman ended up dying from the beating.
“My grandmother was a 92-year-old woman, in bed, with hip problems, defenseless, very skinny and worn out by the years, a person that we all remember as very loving, educated, modest, affectionate with everyone,” added the complainant. .
According to the authorities, the subject would have strangled the old woman, leaving her alive and then beating her, something that was classified by forensic experts as “torture.”
“Many times he threatened my mother. “He mistreated my mother,” the young woman said, pointing out that the subject was in a bad mood due to the arrest of one of her children. In that sense, she stated that her mother received messages in which the man threatened her mother-in-law, but that they never thought that she would follow through with those threats.
The source maintains that in these messages he also threatened the family dog, something he suspects he carried out, since the animal died a few days before the attack on the old woman.
Now, the family is demanding justice, and that the good image that the professional has among friends and colleagues be denied.
“I thought I would see her soon. She was happy to meet her second great-granddaughter. “He took that possibility away from us,” said the young woman, who had just given birth shortly before the incident.
