The PSD candidate for mayor of Slătioara commune in Vâlcea county, Daniela Camelia Romcescu, won the by-elections on Sunday. She is the wife of the former mayor of the locality, who has held this position since 2008 and who has been declared incompatible.
Following the counting of the votes from all the five polling stations arranged in Slătioara, Vâlcea, the PSD candidate won by a landslide in each polling station, informs News.ro.
Daniela Camelia Romcescu, an employee of Slătioara City Hall, is the wife of former mayor Sorin Romcescu, who lost her mayoral seat due to incompatibility.
According to the National Integrity Agency, Sorin Romcescu was in a state of incompatibility, as he held simultaneously with the position of mayor and the position of administrator within SC Sorana SRL (between June 20, 2012 – March 7, 2016), respectively, the quality of Individual Authorized within the “Romcescu Cristian Authorized Individual” (between June 20, 2012 – March 8, 2016).
Because he could no longer run, the former mayor supported his wife for the administrative position
“I have been the mayor of our locality since 2008 and only together with you, Slatioara has entered a wide development process by attracting European, governmental funds, co-financing from the CJ and the local budget. I could not have done this without the Local Council and the mayor’s office team, regarding the preparation of project documents, their financing and their implementation. (…) The PSD offer for the next period is a continuation of the ongoing projects and of the projects submitted for financing and the identification of other projects according to the financing guidelines. I am convinced that this will be accomplished by Daniela Camelia Romcescu, our candidate for mayor, due to her experience in administration, together with the Deputy Mayor of the locality, the Local Council (8 PSD), the County Council, the Government of Romania and the mayor’s office team “, the former mayor wrote on Facebook on the last day of the electoral campaign for the by-elections.
