“Family Blood”: A Unique Blend of Book and Movie Script for Today’s Youth Culture.

Baroque and hip-hop music plays alternately in the “Tu jau zini kur” cultural space, and the opening of playwright, writer and screenwriter Laura Gundar’s latest book “Family Blood” is celebrated in a numerically almost family atmosphere. Due to the unusual format, the author calls it a movie script for teenagers.

The author explains: “And in the end, young people with today’s perception of the world are unimaginable without “Youtube”, and this is something in between “Youtube” and a book. And you can understand how this group is formed. And in addition, you can also note yourself, if you don’t like something that is there, and say – no, I would shoot differently, I would put a close-up here and a close-up here.”

The book was visualized and the shot plans were created by LMA scenography student Marianna Lapiņa, who, while working on this story, tried to recall the feelings she experienced as a teenager: “For me, even the way I am working now, it is very sketchy and the process is so unfinished, and I think and I hope that it is visually captured in the book as well – the feeling of youth is that it could go in all directions at once, nothing is finished, you don’t understand anything, and you have to decide on some kind of further action plan all the time, and then that’s it, what I was trying to achieve there.”

The story of Laura Gundar and Marianna Lapiņa about the age-old question of how to break out of stereotypes and family-imposed frames and live your own life, published by “Aminori” publishing house.
