Family and Children’s Theater “Trovadora”, Saturday 19 October ’24

In “Trovadora” the word plays an essential role. Our protagonist makes the audience a participant and accomplice in the creation of stories, characters and worlds that parade before their eyes.

Music is another of the main elements that accompanies it; Zither, tambourine and songs that take us on a journey to the king’s castle.

The imagination of this troubadour conquers the stage space from the beginning of the show and this is expressed through the use of shadows, sound environments, the scenery and objects such as the clean clothes that hang and that form words that inspire her stories.

What if they hadn’t told us the whole story?
What if that troubadour had been a troubadour?
Would she have been a mother and a troubadour?
Would he have put his children to sleep with stories?
Would he have stood up to injustice with his word?
Lost in time Troubadour creates, imagines, tells and plays with words but she also prepares a vegetable stew and hangs out the laundry.
The hours slip away like sand between your fingers and your stories are forged at the speed of dreams.
The smallest of your little ones has already fallen asleep, it’s time to cook your best story.
Will the King like it?

This is a free version of “From the Castle to your Garden”, by Laura Szwarc. The text interests us for several reasons. On the one hand, because it speaks of a woman with a strong professional vocation, a true troubadour who creates stories, who enjoys words and bringing them to the townspeople.

But it also talks about a mother, with her seven children, her pout, her clothes to hang and her lullabies to put them to sleep. To this medieval example of reconciling work and family is added a reflection on why and for whom to create art. To acquire prestige and be recognized? Why can’t we live without creating? To please the powerful? Or to share with our peers?
