Practitioner in a hospital in the Paris region, on the front line to treat the wave of patients affected by the coronavirus, an anesthesiologist-resuscitator delivers daily for AFP, on condition of anonymity, the summary of his day in full crisis sanitary.

“Fatigue is felt. Even a little weariness. We constantly have the feeling that we are waiting for a return to normal, but we have to make a reason.

This logbook certainly allows me to experience the situation less difficult. I imagine. I’ll read it all later. It will also allow us to remember this very special period. Not everything can be written. Some things are too difficult.

For the first time in a very long time, I have been able to see families physically return to their loved ones hospitalized in intensive care. It is a very good thing. This was presented as a historic advance in the management of resuscitation patients. It is a bit excessive in my opinion. It was still a basic a few weeks ago.

Assembling and disassembling Covid units is likely to be our daily business for the months to come. We don’t know what’s going to happen. Experts seem to be certain that there will be a rebound. We will see. We are creating a new balance in our organization. Something viable for several months. We hope so.

Between confreres, the sacred union did not last long. In any case as regards the medical community in general. For several weeks now, there has been a race for the one who will have taken care of the most patients, the one who will have found the best treatment, the one who will have found the best organization in his hospital, etc.

Our teams remain united, the current atmosphere is friendly and caring, but it has nothing to do with coronavirus, it is usual where I work. I do not believe that the pandemic has completely changed our functioning from this point of view.

On the other hand, I do expect controversies over working time and the remuneration of one or the other. It’s already starting to happen a little. Maybe between us. And especially between the administration and us. I think it’s inevitable.

Like every day for a month, we had meal trays offered by restaurants, individuals, supermarkets. It’s very nice, touching. But very strange. A bit offbeat. I understand that people want to feel useful. But honestly, personally I find it very embarrassing. Individuals have even given money on carpets to support caregivers … What is the meaning? ”
