Crusius, who pleaded guilty to 90 federal counts of murder and hate crimes, confessed to publishing a manifesto. This contained anti-immigrant and white nationalist proclamations. He also acknowledged that his attack was directed against Mexicans.
Judge David Guaderrama of the federal court for the Western District of Texas approved the compensation agreement on Monday.
The compensation will be divided among the families of the victims, and will be used to cover medical, funeral and rehabilitation expenses.
Texas prosecutors plan to put him on trial again for the same shooting in a state trial in which they will seek the death penalty.
