This atypical December and amid a rebound in cases, one of the most iconic festive facilities has taken extreme precautions.
Visitors arriving at Rockefeller Plaza need a reservation that is made by scanning a QR code to receive a text message with the authorized time.
The visit for a maximum of 4 people lasts five minutes and a mask must be used.
“Very good, everything looks calm to be able to enjoy something, let’s say, this year,” said a visitor.
Despite social distancing and police barricades in the area, three generations of this Ecuadorian family enjoyed the giant Norwegian pine tree lit for Christmas from 6 a.m. to midnight.
“Nice, beautiful. Good distance, which is what we want,” said the grandmother.
“It is walking in a group but only those of us who are family and that is what is being seen: people taking precautions and the distribution of the spaces they have made seems perfect to enjoy the season and the little tree that is the sensation at this time “added the daughter.
The “selfies” with the tree in the background are still the main attraction, followed by the occasion of ice skating and shopping with special lines for each activity.
“I think it is a good measure of what we are going through right now with the pandemic. It is a way to be able to enjoy the tree but at the same time have everyone protected,” said another visitor.
“It is seen that if it is well organized, they have separation to respect the distance and take a photo and not stay,” added another visitor.
And for those who cannot or do not want to physically visit Rockefeller Center, they can do so virtually through the web address rockefellercenter.com
