On the 24th day of the trial against Halle assassin Stephan B. the last co-plaintiffs held their final speeches.
Magdeburg l In the trial against the Halle assassin, the last co-plaintiffs held their closing lectures on Tuesday. A number of survivors also had their say on the 24th day of the trial.
One of them is the head of the Jewish community, Max Privorozki. In his closing remarks, he said that, from his point of view, neither the Internet nor the refugee crisis was the cause of the hatred five years ago. He believes: “The source of the hatred lies in the family of the assassin”. In the direction of the Federal Prosecutor’s Office, he said that the role of the parents’ home was not sufficiently illuminated. The parents and his sister had exercised their right to refuse to testify. Attorneys for the secondary prosecution had repeatedly criticized that the parents had not prevented the accused from the act.
Other survivors assessed the facts differently. A young American said that the Halle assassin was part of a larger community on the Internet that also had its own language and followed words with deeds. As part of this community, he murdered. “They are not isolated cases, even if they are treated as such,” she says.
Christina Feist, one of the survivors from the synagogue, believes: “The narrative of the insane individual perpetrator has been refuted.” The accused is neither an individual perpetrator nor an isolated case. Germany has an anti-Semitism and racism problem. Another co-plaintiff criticized the work of the Federal Criminal Police Office. She said that it could not be, for example, that an officer investigates the gambling behavior of the defendant without any knowledge of computer games. Associate prosecution attorney David Herrmann even spoke of “remarkable gaps in the knowledge of the Federal Criminal Police Office.” With regard to Internet activities, attorney Andreas Schulze says: “The infrastructure of evil needs more attention than has been the case before.”
Lawyer Jan Siebenhüner, who represents two police officers, says at the end: “We experienced a sovereign and fair trial.” The trial will continue on Wednesday with the defense and the defendant’s last word. The verdict will follow on December 21.
