The candidate for president of SYRIZA-PS expressed his belief that SYRIZA is a necessity Socrates Famouswho considers that “the discrediting of SYRIZA is part of a more general plan of the system to not have a strong official opposition with an unbound progressive discourse”. In fact, in his public intervention (Real Fm – November 11, 2024) he called on the SYRIZA MPs who have resigned from their parliamentary duties but remain in the party to “find ways of composition so as not to favor Mr. Mitsotakis and Mr. Androulakis” .
According to Sokratis Famellos, ND president and Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis is pursuing an anti-popular policy for the benefit of a few cartels and apparently he is interested “and seeks in various ways – the anti-SYRIZA front was one of these ways – to reduce his momentum and credibility SYRIZA”.
At the same time, regarding the tension and the complaints about exclusions in the conference and also regarding the organizational gaps, he underlined that “there should be no anti-gathering in our Congress, nor a plan to prevent the delegates from entering and to have better – probably us – organizational competence (..)”.
However, he pointed out that despite “the plan not to hold the Congress with the anti-concentration from outside” and despite the organizational issues “65% of the delegates chose to continue the four candidate presidents. So the parallel discussion about who has a majority, what is happening in SYRIZA is also closed.”
The next day for SYRIZA-PS, according to Sokratis Famellos, depends on the ability of its executives to cooperate and have a united voice towards society and its demands. In his view, the next president of SYRIZA should strengthen SYRIZA and give life to the prospect of progressive governance. The partnership proposals are important, according to Sokratis Famellos, but they require SYRIZA to be a strong pillar “so that the progressive faction can give a progressive proposal as a whole”.
I believe that SYRIZA is a necessity and I think that the discrediting of SYRIZA is part of a more general plan of the system to not have a strong official opposition with an unbound progressive discourse.
