The candidate for the presidency of SYRIZA PS, Sokratis Famellos, who yesterday made a speech in Patras, is touring Pyrgos today.
From the hall of the Patras Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Famellos said that “the choice for a modern, serious, reliable, dynamic and effective SYRIZA has a legacy from the past. First of all, it has the struggles and values of the fighters of the Left, who taught us something. That great changes are achieved by resistance of the people. And there the Left has always been ahead. We also have the legacy of the government of Alexis Tsipras…”. “Let’s prove”, he said, “that the necessity of SYRIZA can become a political act”. He added that society is waiting “to be told that there is hope in politics”, arguing that the presence of those present provided the answer.
Speaking about the internal parties, he repeated that “the proposal submitted by me and many comrades was not to go to censure. For two reasons. We didn’t want a stigma either on the party or on the person. We wanted to go to the members without any exclusion.” “There is now a discussion that there is allegedly an attempt to block it. Exactly the opposite. We asked not to go through this process. Let there be a discussion in the party and let the members judge…”, he continued. Mr. Famellos said that his personal opinion is “that there was a clear political inadequacy…”. “Will the party, its members, apologize for all these multiple mistakes? No comrades and comrades… The members cannot apologize because they want a serious and reliable SYRIZA. Those who create problems for the prestige and credibility of SYRIZA must apologize. We want to protect our home, to rebuild SYRIZA. We don’t want an IX party, nor a one-person company party,” he commented. He also stated that the internal party debate must end quickly and “go out into society together with the producers, together with the young people to be able to claim a better future for our country”.
Finally, he stated that “as always in this fight, the Left will be first” and called for “all of us to be together”, “to put ‘together’ before and above ‘I'”. “And after the elections of November 24th, because there will be no need for a second round, let’s go back to all the Organizations. Let’s put the Organizations forward. To strengthen our home to strengthen our homeland. It’s the least we can do for the legacy of the Left,” he said.
