US actress Winona Ryder believes that her fame may have protected her from serious assault as a young actress. “I had some difficult experiences with some people who just blatantly sexually harassed me,” the 52-year-old told the men’s magazine “Esquire.”

Looking back on her 20s and 30s, Ryder said, “I was lucky that I was well-known, so maybe it wasn’t as bad as it would have been if I had been an unknown actress.” But she also had to constantly weigh up whether she could afford to defend herself against this “extremely disgusting” behavior, she said.

Ryder became a star as a teenager and played a role in Tim Burton’s horror comedy “Beetlejuice” in 1988. Ryder can also be seen in the sequel “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice”, which is due to be released in German cinemas on September 12th. Also back: Michael Keaton as the green-haired poltergeist.
