How the fake health pass business is growing on Snapchat and Telegram

resold on illegal networks, here are the fake health passes.
The obligation, since this Wednesday, July 21, to present an anti-Covid vaccination certificate (or a negative PCR test)
has inspired counterfeiters, who are increasing the number of offers, both on illicit Darknet networks and on messaging and other social networks (Snapchat, TikTok, WhatsApp, Telegram, etc.).
This is what a study by the business intelligence firm Avisa Partners, which specializes in cybersecurity, underlines.
This growing underground market for fake vaccination certificates
“There are now a lot of offers for fake health passes on Snapchat and Telegram,” notes Sophie *, specialist in fraud detection and analyst for Avisa Partners. It came back from Emmanuel Macron’s speech announcing this obligation [le 12 juillet].
We have seen Telegram groups specializing in fake PCR tests – with sometimes more than 21,000 subscribers – adapting to the demand of their community. “
For example, a Snapchat profile offers a “vaccination certificate”
with QR code and “certified stamp” (without knowing what it means) for 200 euros.
Another prefers to start a conversation to promote a fake health pass sold for 200 euros, after providing a lot of personal information (last name, first name, social security number, date of birth, postal addresses and e-mail). A final one shares an advertising montage clearly displaying the color:
