false information circulating on the internet worries the EFS

No, it is not necessary to have a health pass to donate blood! The EFS (Etablissement Français du Sang) sets the record straight because false information circulating on the internet is not without consequences. However, there is currently a shortage of 500 blood donations per day.

The reserve level of blood products is now low. More than 500 donations are missing per day according to the‘French Blood Establishment. Summer with the holidays is often a difficult time to spend. So, false information circulating on the internet should not discourage donors. The EFS therefore recalls the terms of access and the main eligibility criteria.

The health pass is not compulsory

As blood donations are neither places of leisure and culture, nor places bringing together vulnerable people, the Health Pass is not necessary to access it, including when the collection sites are located in a hospital enclosure. The EFS thus continues to welcome all donors, while respecting barrier gestures, including wearing a mask, which remains compulsory.
Very rare exceptions may exist for collections that take place in a shopping center of more than 20,000m2 covered by a prefectural decree, or in certain establishments receiving the public subject to the Health Pass and for which a differentiated reception of donors would not be possible. .

The vaccine does not change anything

The EFS also recalls that it is possible to donate blood after an injection of the Covid-19 vaccine, without any postponement period to be observed. On the other hand, people who have shown symptoms of covid will have to wait 14 days after symptoms disappear to donate blood. In any case, before the blood collection, the donor is always received by a doctor and subjected to a very precise questionnaire.
