False Claim: Child in Razgrad Poisoned by Ukrainian Eggs

The nightmarish information spread through several native media outlets

One stated that “a recent incident involving eggs imported from Ukraine has caused alarm among the local population,” but did not mention who the “local population” was.

In the other publication, which is similar, it is claimed that the mother is from Razgrad. After the child consumed eggs of Ukrainian origin, he felt stomach pains.

The mother took the eggs to an independent laboratory, which confirmed the presence of heavy metals and radiation, the article said.

It said the samples were tested for banned veterinary medicinal products, antibiotics, sulfonamides, coccidiostats, heavy metals and radioactivity, and the results were negative.

The analysis was carried out in the accredited Central Laboratory of Veterinary-Sanitary Expertise and Ecology (CLVSEE). The conclusion of the BABH is that Ukrainian eggs are safe. The agency writes that the final results are from samples of fresh chicken eggs, class A, originating in Ukraine, imported into Bulgaria during the period March 9-19, 2023.
