“I stopped because they were hitchhiking and an armed man appeared and stole my car, money and cell phone.” That was the complaint that a man made on Saturday afternoon at the eighth police station in Batán and that hours later he acknowledged that it was false in order to collect the insurance.
The vehicle suffered several damages.
The 41-year-old said that he had stopped the march at the height of the kilometer 18 of route 88 when traveling towards Otamendi because a person was hitchhiking on the route. The agency’s officers conducted a survey in the area, compared images from security cameras and spoke with neighbors to confirm that no crime of this nature had occurred in the area.
Before these developments, the complainant changed his version, seemed doubtful and recognized that it was a false report to use the insurance because he had broken the front axle of the Renault Sandero and wedged it into a ditch at kilometer 20 and a half.
Another man took the opportunity to try to steal the seat.
When the personnel arrived at the area, they apprehended a 36-year-old man who was trying to steal the back seat of the vehicle and who had a fuel canister in his possession. The judicial authorities ordered the formation of a case for that person for attempted robbery and they did not take any measures restricting freedom.
For its part, the Economic Crimes Prosecutor’s Office ordered proceedings for the crime of false accusation and it was at the level of attempt for the owner of the vehicle.
