Two of the positive coronavirus tests that were identified last week in the Montreal Canadiens were “false positives”.

This was indicated on Monday the Athletic site, adding that the time when the players concerned would have received authorization to join their teammates remains unknown.

The day before, the same source had reported that at least three hockey players of the Habs were infected by COVID-19.

The National Hockey League (NHL) and the Canadiens’ organization declined to provide further information due to the policy regarding a player’s right to medical confidentiality. It is the NHL that will disclose whether a player has tested positive for COVID-19, without however indicating which player it is or the team for which it plays.

Moreover, the club refused to confirm to the “Journal de Montréal” Sunday evening information from Athletic.

The third phase of the NHL recovery plan began on Monday and the Canadiens held training in Brossard.
