Fallout 76 fans’ hatred was the reason for the release postponement

Actually was DOOM Eternal scheduled for release in 2019 before being postponed to March 19, 2020. The reason was banal: quality assurance. In a recently released podcast Pete Hines from Bethesda an insight into the causes of the delay.

In the podcast “Branching Narratives” by USGamer spoke Pete Hines, Bethesda’s senior vice president of global marketing and communications, on a variety of topics. One of the more interesting is the exact reason why DOOM Eternal was delayed. It turns out that one of the main reasons for the delay is the strong negative reception of the Fans from Fallout 76 war.

It is no secret that Fallout 76 had a very bad reception, and Bethesda didn’t want to make the same mistakes again.

Pete Hines: “We said to ourselves, this and this is not yet finished, and we will not make another mistake. We will take the extra time, although it hurts us and is painful if we miss the vacation time. ” This was DOOM Eternal better – no question, but could it also lead to his planned sales figures?

DOOM Eternal: Despite additional postponement, it could not impress all fans

Even with the extra time spent making sure that DOOM Eternal was a great game, it didn’t come without controversy. In an update that was released some time after the first launch, added Bethesda Add Denuvo Anti-Cheat to their game, which they will do in the next update of the game immediately removed after a massive backlash from the players. Many not only used a kernel-mode driver to look for cheats that could potentially be used for monitoring and data collection, but were also upset about that Bethesda dropped this new software without warning.

DOOM Eternal is available for PC, PlayStation 4, Stadia and Xbox One. A switch port will be available sometime in the future. One the exact release date has not yet been given.
