You can make money on a thirty-year-old car, whoever buys an interesting piece will make a fortune. But he must act quickly and not hesitate.
A youngtimer that attracts the attention of enthusiasts and collectors. Anyone who started driving in the 1990s wanted a Calibra. Unfortunately, the first part of Fast and Furious caused interest in tuning, even in the negative direction. And most of the Caliber fell into the hands of home tuners. “Knuckles to the Lover were the lesser of evils,” says Mr. Pavlíček, an expert in servicing European and Japanese cars. The car in question is a rare example from the 1990s that has retained near-original condition and is available at a relatively reasonable price.
Tuners fell in love with the Opel Calibra, unfortunately. Look for the original!
The Opel Calibra has always been one of those cars that promised an iconic future. Today it is clear that this promise has been fulfilled. Here we have a Calibra specimen in front of us, which has remained in practically flawless condition. What’s more, it’s available at a price that matches its value. If the Opel Calibra is one of your favorite cars from the 1990s, you’re no stranger to the fact that this rare classic is a rather rare sight on today’s roads.

Finding a Calibra in as-original condition, with intact wheels and no signs of corrosion, is like looking for a needle in a haystack. It is possible to find about a hundred pieces on the second-hand market in Europe, but their condition is debatable. Or they are overpriced. Even if occasionally a vehicle appears for sale that could easily impress as a museum exhibit, its price is often astronomical.
No one would dare to say that they would be willing to pay almost a million crowns for an Opel Calibra, would they? However, this particular example offers almost unbelievably low mileage and is in excellent condition. Under its hood is a basic two-liter engine with 115 horsepower. Although driving this car may not be as adrenaline-pumping as we’d like, it’s still a wonderful young classic in a beautiful red color.
There are about a hundred cars for sale, only a few are worth it, literally
This particular example is now offered for sale in Germany and has only had two owners. The first owner drove only 20,000 kilometers with the car, after which it passed into the hands of the current owner, who is an avid collector. He drove the next 5,446 kilometers really carefully, which is very little for the 32-year history of the car. The seller claims that the car bears only minimal signs of use, which is also evident in the photos.

This is a specimen that has apparently been preserved in exceptional condition. Considering its condition, the price at which it is offered is also very interesting. The owner is asking for CZK 370,000 in conversion. “For such a beautiful and well-preserved Opel Calibra, this price is more than reasonable,” says expert Pavlíček. However, it would be advisable for a potential buyer to thoroughly protect the chassis against corrosion and consider whether to use it more in the summer months and spend the winter in a dry garage.
