Storm Ignatz causes train cancellations and delays along the route.
(pes / max). Storm depression Ignatz caused massive problems on the Breisgau S-Bahn. Around 8 a.m., a tree fell on a train and an overhead line near Hinterzarten. Nobody was injured. But the people had to be fetched from the train by the fire brigade and rail traffic on the Höllentalbahn came to a standstill until the afternoon. Also on the Dreiseenbahn from Titisee to Schluchsee there was no train until late in the evening.
Even before this incident, there were train cancellations and delays on the sections of the Breisgau S-Bahn from Breisach and Endingen to Freiburg – afterwards these problems increased. However, despite the demand, the railway was unable to report how many connections were canceled on Thursday.
Once again it became clear how vulnerable the Breisgau S-Bahn timetable is to disruptions. A fallen tree in the Black Forest can mess up the timetable at the Kaiserstuhl. Commuters also reported that there was insufficient information on the platforms.
There were other fire brigade operations in the Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald district. The focus was on the communities in the Black Forest. But also in the Dreisamtal, Markgräflerland and occasionally at the Kaiserstuhl and in southern Breisgau, the weirs moved out, as the district office announced. Most of the time they had to clear traffic routes of fallen trees. In the city of Freiburg, too, the brigade went on four smaller missions.
