Leaf. From October 16th to 27th, the Junior University Daun opened its doors again for a variety of holiday courses. With 52 courses, the Junior University offered a wide range of learning opportunities for its junior students in the fields of MINT (mathematics, computer science, natural sciences and technology), humanities, cultural and social sciences as well as health, nutrition and exercise science.

A total of almost 500 course places were available, and the number of registrations demonstrated great interest in this innovative educational institution. The fall courses included a wide selection of exciting course formats. Starting with the “Breakfast Detectives”, who unlocked the secrets of a healthy breakfast, through courses such as “On the Trail of Drinks”, which took the young researchers into the world of food technology, to the “Photo Safari” and exciting excursions into the world Forest or the idyllic Weinfelder Maar – the palette was as colorful as it was informative. The technology-loving students had the opportunity, among other things, to test their skills in courses on 3D printing, photography technology or drone flight, while the young programmers were able to create their own virtual game worlds. In addition, a variety of courses from the humanities, cultural and social sciences were waiting to be discovered: for example, students could live out their creativity in various art courses, create their own fashion from newspapers, go on a musical journey of discovery or become “character creators”. when they brought dolls and figures to life.

The quality of the courses was ensured through collaboration with proven external lecturers and cooperation partners such as the Ada Lovelace Project of the University of Trier, the Luxembourg Tech School and the Vulkaneifel Astronomical Association. These experts helped provide students with a unique and educational learning experience.


The Junior University of Daun looks back proudly on the year 2023, in which the educational program offered was accepted by an overwhelming number of junior students even before the official opening of its new building in December 2023. Over 1,000 places were allocated to young researchers in 114 holiday courses. This underlines the demand for extracurricular educational opportunities and the Junior Uni Daun’s commitment to inspiring and supporting young minds.
