The Indianapolis Colts have acquired quarterback Matt Ryan from the Atlanta Falcons in exchange for a 2022 third-round pick, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Mike Garafolo and Tom Pelissero.

The 2016 MVP has two years left on his contract. If Ryan hadn’t been traded before 10 p.m., he would have received a $7.5 million roster bonus that was pushed back from Friday to help the Falcons attempt to sign Deshaun Watson.

Atlanta will save $9 million on salary cap but suffer a $40.5 million dead cap hit, according to Over the Cap. Ryan signed a five-year, $150 million contract with the Falcons in 2018.

The Colts found their new quarterback after handing Carson Wentz along with a 2022 second-round pick and a 2022 seventh-round pick for a 2022 second-round pick, a 2022 third-round pick and a 2023 third-round pick that can become a second-round pick Washington Commanders have sold.>

The Seattle Seahawks were among other prospects for Ryan this season after sending Russell Wilson to the Denver Broncos earlier this month.
