Atlanta Falcons legend turned college football coach Deion Sanders is headed west after being named Colorado’s next head coach.
Colorado made the official announcement Saturday 3rd December around 10pm
The news isn’t shocking, as rumors surfaced in November that Sanders was ready for the vacant job with the Buffaloes.
Sanders plans to coach Jackson State during the Dec. 17 bowl game.
The NFL Hall of Famer played a major role in transforming the Jackson State Tigers football program. The Tigers went undefeated this season (12-0) after winning the SWAC championship for the second year in a row, a huge accomplishment for both Sanders and the Tigers, who were just a 4-8 team, before Sanders took the Sanders post. head coach during the COVID-plagued 2020 season.
The Colorado Buffaloes led 11-1 this season and fired head coach Karl Dorrell in early October after a rocky 5-0 start. Colorado is hoping Sanders can turn things around like they did at JSU, considering the Buffaloes haven’t won more than five games in a single season since 2016.
