Something wrong with a payment? No one likes to hear it and it drives most people to action immediately. What is in principle a good thing can however play into the hands of criminals.
Vienna/Berlin – Currently many fake Spotify short messages are being sent. By falsely claiming that there is a payment problem, scammers want to trick music streaming service customers into divulging their login details and payment information. The consumer protection portal “Internet Watchlist” warns against this practice.
Do not click on the link contained in the phishing SMS, but the best is to delete it immediately. Because if you click on the link, you land on a fake Spotify login page that looks a lot like the real one.
Change password, inform the bank
If you made the mistake of entering your Spotify username and password along with your payment information, you should take action immediately. On the one hand, you need to change the Spotify password, experts advise. On the other hand, the bank concerned should be informed.
If access to your Spotify account is no longer possible, the music streaming service explains the procedure to follow on its support pages.
Pay attention to the address of the login page
The SMS scam may seem real at first glance. But if you take a closer look, you probably notice in the link the fake address of the supposed login page of the service. The correct address to access the Spotify account is “accounts.spotify.com/en/login? “. dpa
