Fake contests entice Internet users with the attribution of shopping cards. Cactus has done its “possible to delete the fake accounts”.

“Due to the opening of the new Cactus store, our team will randomly send 400 free shopping cards to whoever replies congratulations.” This message was published on the Facebook profile of “Cactus Lëtzebuerg.” and several internet users interacted with the publication in the expectation of being awarded. However, the effort was worthless as this profile is fake.

This is one of the clear examples where details make the difference. Although the visual identity of the profile is similar to the supermarket chain’s official page, there is an important detail: in the description, the name Cactus Lëtzebuerg is accompanied by a full stop.

But this is not the only fake page that steals Cactus’s identity. Contacto found several similar profiles with announcements of competitions and awarding of prizes, misleading Internet users.

Therefore, if you find an identical publication, remember that the official page of the company is “Cactus Lëtzebuerg”, without any period or other punctuation element.

Official Cactus source tells the Contact that he is aware of the existence of these fake accounts that hold contests and is trying to control the situation. “We took all the necessary measures and reported the fake accounts, but this is not always taken into account by FB, which is the only one that can delete the account”, he reveals.

In addition, Cactus has informed “customers directly” and ensures that it has done “everything possible to delete fake accounts”.
